Hurry up and wait

I had a little flurry of posting activity but my time in Lander is winding down and I need to clean up the house, pack and fulfill my obligations here before leaving Friday morning. I will have some multiple nights in Airbnbs starting next week so hopefully I will have time to get more posts up. I have family here in Lander and we have precious few evenings to have dinner together so I want to make the most of it. I have lots of photos to post so please be patient as I get caught up.

Here are a few photos I took yesterday on the way to Yellowstone, in Yellowstone and on the way home. I will repeat them later as I get caught up to that point in time.

And finally, some herons feeding their (my, aren’t they getting big) young in nests high in trees above a business called “Lander Llamas,” taken last weekend. My sister in law, Jen, knew about the nests and I thought they were osprey nests until I took the photos with my zoom lens:

  1. Safe and enjoyable travels, John. Will try to get my trip log updated tonight so I can be IRT. We leave tomorrow for points a bit west – namely the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. One night enroute before touring or a few days. I do admire your recording efforts! Thank you.

  2. Thanks, Anne. Black Canyon is gorgeous. Takes a while to get from one side to the other but worth if you have the time.
    Don’t know if you are going as far as Grand Junction but Colorado National Monument is a great place to see. Didn’t know about it until my Airbnb hosts there told me to be sure to see it. Probably best done in the mid-day to afternoon as it faces east, if I remember correctly, and you will be looking down into it.

  4. Thanks, Toni. I will post some more when I get caught up (though they are very similar). I will go back to take more, too.
    I got some photos of wild mustangs over the weekend but they were quite far away and a little blurry with the heat rising off the desert floor.
